Last Sunday a friend and I decided to take a hiking tour up the Pirchkogel (2.835m/9.301ft).
As the weather had been exceptionally great the last couple of weeks and no rain or snow had been falling, we were expecting a fairly easy hike up.
However, half way up, we hit the first smaller snowfields and just below the summit we had to do some easy climbing.
The photo shows part of the Kuehtai skiing area as well as the surrounding mountains, with the Hochalter (2.678m) in the foreground.
In the very far back you can see the mountains of the Tuxer Alps.
The air was so clear that we were even able to get a glimpse of the Grossglockner, Austria's highest mountain.

zuerst einmal runter, dann weit weg...
der Pfeil lässt auch erkennen, dass man im Wnter mit den Skiern rauf kann - allerdings ist die "blaue" (=leicht) Beschilderung eher ein Bauernfang...
